Black Canyon Coffee House (International Thai Cuisine)- Centre Point Bandar Utama

Update: A new dish I ate from Black Canyon

Spicy Glass Noodles Salad - RM8.90
(The salad full with Jew's-ear, Peanuts, Prawn, Chicken meats and Glass Noodles. The sauce for this salad is really sour and spicy. It's a delicious Thai Style Salad.)
____________________________________________________________________

Lived in Bandar Utama for almost 4 years. Passed by Centre Point everyday.
Worked at One Tech Park for 6 months. Eat there almost everyday too.
The restaurant seems like transparent for me.
I never find out that the foods here are nice and the price is actually very reasonable.

After 4 years and highly recommended from my friend, I went this coffee house few weeks ago...

I heard that this coffee house is very famous in Thailand and had a lot of branches. So, I do some research for it too. This is the info I found:

Black Canyon (Thailand) Co. Ltd. was established in 1993 to operate restaurants serving food, coffee and drinks under the "Black Canyon Coffee" name. The company is the registered owner of the "Black Canyon" trademark and all associated service marks.
Black Canyon is the largest and most well known operator of franchised coffee houses in Thailand. The management and every employee has as their goal to continually develop and improve the Black Canyon Coffee brand.
This coffee house really quite famous in Thailand and now opened 11 branches in Malaysia since 2002 (Ipoh, Kuantan, Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Putrajaya and Seberang Prai).
You can search the nearest location through this link:

The branch I tried is in Center Point Bandar Utama.
The coffee house design is quite comfortable. Using a soft light, wooden chair and dining table.
Besides, it has one big coffee bar for the baristas to make the perfect drinks to customers.
Then, we can actually see how the chef prepare the foods through the glass. For customers who like to learn some cooking skills can sit at the seat beside the glass. (of course, I am not so sure that really can learn or not~ =p)
Anyway, the coffee house design is fine to me.
Of course, it is clean and they have nice music too. =) Well, the music is really important to me.
The services from the waiters and waitress is good, they are helpful and friendly.

Let me show you some photo 1st:

I don't know whether this design meet your satisfaction or not.
Anyway, I like the food there too.

It's famous with their coffee actually. But, as I wrote in my Coffee - Typica Cafe, I can't drink coffee.... =(
So, I didn't manage try the coffee there. Anyway, I heard that they have beautiful coffee art too... may be you can try yourself there and take some photos to let me see too??? =)

Come on!! Let us start the journey of my food adventure:

I went there 3 times since 9 April. I ordered this every time I enter to this coffee house...

Spicy Chicken Tom Yum Soup - RM9.90
( I am actually addicted with this tom yum soup. It's really nice!! The sour and spicy soup makes me have a good appetite to eat whole cow....haha...just kidding!! =p Besides, the chef deserves a compliment as he knows to use chicken's leg meat- drumstick/tight meat for the tom yum soup. It's important for the chef to choose correct part of chicken meat when cook a soup...my opinion la~)

Grilled Black Pepper Salmon Salad RM12.90
(Of course, this salad is definitely not ordered by me... haha....I am not a cow who like to eat grass...=p Despite all that, I tried it too... and I recommend you to try if you like salmon and salad. The vegetables are really fresh and the salmon is not fishy at all..)

Fish Steak - RM15.90
(I ordered this in the 1st time i visited. I was so happy when I eat the fish!!! Because, it's not DORY FISH!!!! Forgot to mention, I don't like dory fish, it's smelly and tasted bad. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask them the fish type. But, what I can assure is the fish is nice, fresh and not fishy at all too!)

Pad - Thai (Thai Style Stir-fried Rice Noodles with Prawn)
(This one really inspiring me to come again... I ordered this in my 2nd visit. It's actually is a kind of Penang Char Kuey Tiaw. But, they stir-fried the rice noodles with peanuts and some other thai sauce or herbs...it makes the noodles' taste so different. I don't like to eat peanuts actually. But, this noodle is good to eat with the peanuts. It's so fragrance! It's difficult to describe using words. You must try your own..=p)

Stir-Fried Noodles with Chicken Steak in Gravy - RM15.90
(They have a good chef who pro in stir-fried. The noodles tasted good. Usually the chicken meat will be harsh to eat if cook like this, right? But, it tastes good at here and very smooth. Besides, the chicken steak is quite fresh too. I didn't smell the freezer's odor also...)

Rice topped with Roasted Chicken in Garlic and Pepper with Mixed Vegetables in Gravy - RM8.90
(My friend ordered this. The name is very long. But, it called Roasted Chicken Rice actually in Thai. My friend learns Thai, that's what he told us. As I told you before, the chef good in stir-fried. The stir-fried veges are nice. The Roasted Chicken is also quite good with good smell too.)

Stir-fried Rice Noodles with Minced Chicken in Thick Gravy - RM8.90
(The chef stir-fried this with tomato sauce which I like. It makes me miss my hometown. The tomato sauce stir-fried rice noodles is very popular in my hometown, Sarawak. huh...it's actually "Wat Dan Ho" with tomato sauce...may be now you can imagine how is the taste....you will like it if you like tomato sauce..)

Combination of Stir-fried Prawn, Chicken and Chili with Rice - RM8.90
(My friend ordered this and I forgot the dish name also. But, what I can remember is he ordered this in the Set Menu. It comes together with a drinks and a tom yum soup. (RM12.90 - set, RM8.90 A la Carte) I forgot to taste it. Sorry, a failed blogger....=( Anyway, according to my friend, it's nice too. How nice is that?? I can't describe as I didn't try...find out yourself, please....SORRY~~~)

(These are the menu for foods and coffee. Next time, I will ask my friend order the coffee and I taste a little bit...so that, I can tell you how good is the coffee and how beautiful is for their coffee art~~)

Lucky Sichuan Restaurant (吉祥川味馆)- Dataran Sunway

c
UPDATE!!!!
It called Ba Si - 拔丝 in Mandarin. Fried sweet potato with Malt Sugar
(How to eat this?? Easy! 1st, take one slice of sweet potato with malt sugar and dip into the cold water...then eat!)
You know how to eat the Chocolate Fountain, right? The chocolate will frozen after dip into cold water, right? This dessert has same theory with that. The malt sugar get frozen and becomes crispy when you eat~~~ woohoo...it's really interesting as you eat the chocolate fountain!!! So happy to eat this!!!

BESIDES,

THIS IS A COMPLIMENTARY FROM THE BOSS!!!

We went last week to eat Sichuan Spicy Hotpot again....And, thank to the boss!!! We able to try this dessert~~~ It's really nice!!!

(I was thinking that the boss might read my blog also about his restaurant. That's why he is so nice with us when he saw us in his restaurant. hahaha....OR....he is just happy that he got regular customers just like us...Anyway, it's glad to have a complimentary from the restaurant~~ =p)

_________________________________________________________________

Friends who know me always surprised about the spicy I can take compare to them~ =)
haha....
I am so addicted with chilies now and almost can't survive without chilies. =)
But, I am not that kind of people who can eat plain rice with fresh chilies. Nope! I can't!
I like to eat Soup Noodles with dipping the Soy Sauce Chilies. I cut the chilies in small pieces and put into Soy sauce.
For me, it gives me a lot satisfaction! =)

Haha....out of topic. =p
This is suppose a blog regarding the new place I found!!! Lucky Sichuan Restaurant (吉祥川味馆)at Dataran Sunway.

Been there 3 times in a week. =) No choice. I really like the food there so much.
The main reason of course because they serve spicy food! =p

And, the 2nd reason is because of the authentic food. It's like I was eating Chinese food at China SiChuan now..and the foods are so delicious.

The 3rd reason is because I am quite satisfy with the service. They are friendly and helpful.

The 4th reason is because the restaurant design is good and make me so comfortable to eat. The restaurant using the design of modern + traditional Chinese restaurant with those antique vases and those wooden tables and chairs.

From Wikipedia:
Szechuan cuisine often contains food preserved through pickling, salting, and drying and is generally spicy. The Sichuan peppercorn huājiāo 花椒 ('flower pepper') is commonly used. Szechuan pepper has an intensely fragrant, citrus-like flavour and produces a "tingly-numbing" (Chinese: 麻) sensation in the mouth. Also common are garlic, chili, ginger, star anise and other spicy herbs, plants and spices. Broad bean chili paste (simplified Chinese: 豆瓣酱; traditional Chinese: 豆瓣醬; pinyin: dòubànjiàng) is also a staple seasoning in Sichuan cuisine. The region's cuisine has also been the originator of several prominent sauces widely used in Chinese cuisine as a whole today, including yuxiang (魚香), mala (麻辣), and guaiwei (怪味).

The 1st time (19 March 2011), I went with a friend. We ordered 2 dishes+1 soup for dinner.
Here are the pictures for the dishes:

白菜豆腐汤 Cabbage Bean Curd Soup - RM10

清炒苦瓜 Bittergourd - RM12

重庆辣子鸡 ChongQing Spicy Deep-Fried Chicken - RM28
The chef cure the chicken with spices and then deep-fried it with the dried chilies.

I was so impressed with the foods there. It's so delicious. Then, I saw the menu, they served Sichuan Spicy Hotpot too. I was thinking to try one day to compare with Xiao Fei Yang's Spicy Hotpot. I like Xiao Fei Yang a lot but the spicy soup there still slightly different with what we eat in SiChuan, China. The one we eat in Xiao Fei Yang was lack of the "tingly-numbing" (Chinese: 麻) sensation in the mouth.

So, I asked again my friends to have 2nd visit (24 March 2011) to the restaurant to taste the Sichuan Spicy Hotpot!

I brought 3 friends together to try it. We ordered Combination soup - "Yuan Yang (鸳鸯)" hotpot. One is Sichuan Spicy Hotpot (四川麻辣火锅), and another one is plain soup (清汤) - RM18.

The Spicy Soup is really nice, spicy and have the "tingly-numbing" (Chinese: 麻) sensation in the mouth. You can also choose the spiciness of the soup, either little spicy (小辣), medium spicy (中辣) or original (麻辣). We choose medium spicy and it's not spicy at all for me~~ haha..=p But, i like the "tingly-numbing" (Chinese: 麻) sensation in the mouth...

Then, we tick the dishes we want to soak into the soup as the list below:

The dishes price here is quite similar with Xiao Fei Yang and the dishes also very fresh. Of course, Xiao Fei Yang has more choices. But, this list is good enough for me. =)

I am too impressed with the Sichuan Hotpot and introduce to one of my Penang's friend. She is so interested to try it! So, here is the 3rd visit (27 March 2011) to the restaurant.

This time, except of the Sichuan Hotpot, we ordered a main course which called Spicy Spare Ribs. The chef stir-fry the spare ribs with broad bean chili paste, spicy herbs, plants and spices. The smell is really good and has delicious taste!

Spicy Spare Ribs RM28
(I am sorry with this photo quality, too blur!)

The Long Table - Plaza Glomac, Kelana Jaya

I have not much idea about Nyonya Cuisine.

According to Wikipedia, Nonya cooking is the result of blending Chinese ingredients and wok cooking techniques with spices used by the Malay/Indonesian community. The food is tangy, aromatic, spicy and herbal.

I had only try twice in my life of 26 years old. haha...lousy? yea! I know. =)

My second try for Nyonya Cuisine was at The Long Table-A Penang Nyonya Cuisine.

Using Google Map to find out the place before we depart. Found that The Long Table located in the quiet suburb of Kelana Jaya, Plaza Glomac.

The restaurant design is very simple yet comfortable with Chinese traditional design - Rosewood furniture and round marble topped tables etc. The restaurant do have a LONG TABLE which can fit at least 15 people. That's really surprise me. =)

The shot of delicious foods served by The Long Table:

Roti Babi - Fried Meat-Filled Sandwich (RM6)

Cucur Udang - Fried Prawn and Vegetable fritter with flour (RM6)

Lor Bak - Meat Roll (3 ROLLS - RM9)

Jiew Hu Char – Yam Bean with Fermented Cuttlefish (RM15)

Assam Fish

Pong Teh - Stewed Pork (RM15)

Steamed Lady's Fingers

Inche Kabin – Nyonya Fried Chicken (RM16)

Tauhu with Salted Fish Bone Soup

Nasi Ulam - Fried Rice with Lemon Grass, Raw Onion Slices and other herbs (RM15)

Hong Bak (RM15)

This is the 1st time I went The Long Table and all the food i tasted was so nice and delicious.

Thanks to the chef to serve us the nice food.

Thanks to my friend who suggested the place to us.

Char Siew(BBQ Roasted Pork) - Sunway Mas

I am pretty sure that people who live in KL definitely like the taste of KL Char Siew (BBQ Roasted Pork)...Cantonese style Char Siew is the best.

I used to eat the Char Siew at my hometown since I was young and for me, it was very lean and tough. The taste is really bad. But now, after so many people go outside to explore, the Char Siew at my hometown now consider nicer than before, i think...
Anyway, I am not gonna introduce the Char Siew in my hometown.

I wanna introduce the Char Siew nearby my house in Tropicana which change my impression of Char Siew.

The restaurant named Restoran Famous Seremban Favorite. Weird huh???
haha.....the name can't really make us relate it to the food he served....

It reminds me the boss' education level every time i go there for lunch.
The boss has a master degree, if not mistaken, is MBA~
Cool, right????

haha....
don't want to waste your time with this small matter..
EAT is the most important thing for you who read this blog...

You can choose the type of meat you want either lean or half lean half fat. The lean Char Siew here also very nice, but for me, I will order half lean half fat Char Siew because the sweet and juicy fat belly will melt in my mouth. It's difficult to describe the feel through words. You should go and try yourself.

Usually people order a rice to eat the Char Siew. But, I like this Hakka Mee. (haha...I like noodles more than rice..) The taste is quite good for me, you can smell the fragrance before you eat. People always said that smell also know the taste. So, once you smell it, then you will know how is the taste of this Hakka Mee. =p

This is Cuttle-fish Bee Hoon (鱿鱼米粉). I like this noodle too. Just i think the boss should change the Bee Hoon to other brand...the Bee Hoon's texture is not nice for me. Somehow, the taste of the soup covered the Bee Hoon. So, it's still acceptable for me.. haha....try it! Then you will know.
I don't know how to describe the taste of the soup. It named as Cuttle-fish Bee Hoon, but you can't actually taste the cuttle-fish in the soup. It's so much different with the name although it called Cuttle-fish Bee Hoon.
